In the short span of a few years, Jeff Clausen has gone from a stranger’s name in a sale catalog, to a man that I am proud and honored to call a friend. I watched Jeff for a couple of years through the Red Bluff Sale and I was always impressed with the lovable yet intense drive to work that his dogs all showed. When the time came for me to purchase a dog for our cattle business, I knew I wanted it to be one of Jeff’s. I was priced out at the sale, but I kept in close contact with him for several months. He knew that I wanted a fast, efficient and well minded dog that would also integrate into life inside our home. I was elated when Jeff called me and said he had a little red and white female that he thought would be a good fit. We took his word for it and the next week she was shipped out to us. He was right, Sallie Mae is an incredible asset to my team and works as hard in the pastures as she does at being sweet in the house. I was happier than I expected to be with a dog I knew very little about. A few months later, she broke a leg under a cow and was going to be down for about two months. Jeff knew she was the only dog we had, so he offered for us to use one of his personal dogs until Sallie was back on her game. Reba was shipped out a day or two later. She immediately went to work. She was eager to please and that made her transition into a different environment very smooth. In fact I was so struck with her accomplished performance, we made an offer and he agreed to sell her to us after having her for just one month. Jeff listens to his clients and truly helps to match the right dogs with the right people. He never looks for a quick sale, because his reputation has been built on the true satisfaction of his longtime customers by providing them with a dog suited for their needs and wants. Jeff’s integrity, kindness and professionalism put him at the top of the list of breeders and trainers across the country. I met a man this morning who happened to have another one of Jeff’s dogs from a few years ago. The man smiled and said, “Jeff is just a really good dude.” That pretty much sums it up. He is trustworthy, pleasant to communicate with and the man knows his dogs like they are his own children. I highly recommend Jeff as a resource for anyone looking for a livestock dog or even an intelligent family pet. He has a wide variety and will no doubt be able to find one tailor made for you. You will not be disappointed.
